To our Valued Patients,

The safety of our patients, team and the broader community is our top priority.  Due to COVID-19, we will be closed from March 18th – April 6thth.  At this point, we are unsure when normal business hours will resume beyond April 6th.  We are waiting to see how the situation will evolve as are all Canadians.

In case of emergency you can contact Dr. Gallagher or Dr. Ho directly who will help triage your concerns.  Please contact us if you feel your issue needs immediate attention in order to avoid visiting the hospital Emergency Room if it is not necessary.

Ocular emergencies include:

  • Sudden loss or decrease in vision or the appearance of a cloudy veil over the eye
  • Foreign body in the eye, ocular injury or forceful trauma
  • Sudden onset of flashing lights, floaters, double vision, red eye accompanied by pain

For other inquiries, please send a message to info@bvec.ca and we will respond within 24 hours.  We are still accepting contact lens orders and can ship them right to your door.

Stay safe and we hope to be back to work soon.

Sincerely,

The Bronte Village Eye Care Team

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive diagnostic instrument used for imaging the retina. It has the ability to detect problems in the eye prior to any symptoms being present in the patient. With an OCT, doctors are able to see a cross-section or 3D image of the retina and detect the early onset of a variety of eye conditions and eye diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy (the top three diseases known to cause blindness).

The OCT allows for detection of other diseases such as macular holes, hypertensive retinopathy and even optic nerve damage. Using an OCT allows for early treatment in patients and dramatically improves the success of these treatments, especially in diseases such as wet macular degeneration – where the eye disease progresses rapidly.
